Album „Azimut“ & Single „Alley Cats“
„Azimut: Farben hören, Klänge sehen. Analogue Birds Mastermind Tom Fronza, inspiriert durch die abstrakten Fotografien von Ulrich Raschke, geht auf mystische Reise. Auf einen Trip an tieferliegende Orte, mit Bass-, Gitarren- und Oudsounds, dorthin, wo die Dunkelheit nicht erschlägt, sondern eher die Konzentration schärft für die feinen Verwebungen von indischer Tabla und Mouthpercussion, Maultrommel und Trompete, getoppt von lässig-jazzigen Vocals und Hip-Hop-Einlagen. Grenzen schmelzen. Jede(r) darf sein im großen Klangbild, in dem jedes filigrane Muster erkennbar ist und gleichzeitig im Gesamtwerk aufgeht. Die Analogue Birds: Tom Fronza, Intensivmeister des Didgeridoos und anderer Tieftöner, Gitarrist und Oudspieler Alexander Lipan und Schlagzeuger David Bruhn. Mit 14 weiteren MusikerInnen, die Tom Fronza in Komposition und Mix vereint. Das Album heißt „Azimut“ und ist, wie die astronomische Koordinate, wegweisend. Kreativ, ehrlich, originell, individuell und gleichzeitig universal. Eine sehr schöne, kraftvolle und ausgefeilte Platte.“

„Die Stücke scheinen fließend ineinander überzugehen und zu einer endlosen Klangmelange zu verschmelzen. Dazu schwirrt Sphärisches und „Galaktisches“ durch den Klangraum. Ist da nicht eine Hommage an Embryo, Can und Kraftwerk vorhanden? In den Passagen, in der das Songhafte im Vordergrund steht, ist man geneigt, die Musik als Pop im besten Sinne zu klassifizieren. Doch sobald das Instrumentale die Oberhand gewinnt, verschwindet die Klassifizierung aus dem Blick, meint man gar, Techno und Hip-Hop haben wohl auch ihre Spuren hinterlassen. Bei der Musik von Analogue Birds fragt man sich eh, ob man von EthnoPop, NuJazz, PopJazz, Fusion oder einem anderem Genre reden sollte. Aber was sagen schon derartige Etikettierungen?“
